The fine weave linen canvas combined with the meticulous (in other words a laborious and very much time consuming application of the oil paint with a small brush!) painting technique produces a fairly smooth surface, although closer inspection will reveal some delicate brushwork. Although this is a fairly large painting and is impressive when viewed from a distance because of the fine detail when viewed from close up it will also have impact. So equally suited hanging in a large or small room.
