Mother of pearl.
Oysters on the rock, tenaciously clinging to where their story began. When a grain of sand enters them they feel pain. To defend themselves from irritation, they wrap it in layers of mother of pearl that, combined, will give shape to the beauty of the pearl. Suffering resides within beauty. Happy oysters do not make pearls but suffering oysters are artisans of beauty.
They live safely as long as they remain clinging to the rock to prevent the world, as the voracious fish that it is, from disfiguring their beauty, remaining an open tomb. 🌹
