Morning with Dragonflies (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Irina Plaksina

I created this still life as a playful balance between structure and spontaneity. The oranges, coffee mug, and teapot float within a warm, textured space, while two delicate dragonflies bring a sense of lightness and quiet movement. I was inspired by everyday rituals—morning coffee, simple objects—and the contrast between solidity and fragility. The grid suggests order, but the forms resist it, inviting a more intuitive, emotional reading.

I enjoy working with mixed media, combining acrylic, wax pencil and collage elements to create texture, color and a light sense of whimsy. Paper for collage elements is handmade and made by me.
