This is an acrylic painting on canvas board, framed in a custom-made white wooden frame. The framed size of the artwork is 48.5 x 48.5 x 4 cm & it is ready to hang.
Over the last few years I have been engaged in a kind of phenomenology of colour, exploring many colour moods and conversations, responding to both literature and other painters’ works. The main impulse I have engaged with has been to disguise my hand as a painter. Printmaking tools are an excellent foil for playing with the controlled accident and allow one to develop multiple layers with both opaque and transparent glazes.
This piece has a calm reflective quality. The painting holds the tension between surface and depth of colour. A lovely piece to live with!
