A road arches upwards (or downwards) at an impossible angle. This is a world of eccentricities and wonders. It is a place that verges on surrealism: a reality similar to our own, spiced up with a joyful disregard to the laws of physics. As a result, the painting evokes both a humour and terror, despite the serenity of the background landscape.
The piece can also be translated as a metaphor for life itself. Each have a journey full of their own ups and downs; in some places, one must muster up some stoic determination to continue, in others, one can allow themself to take their foot of the pedal.
