Monster of Deep (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Wyatt Todd

This piece is a visceral exploration of the ocean’s raw, predatory power, captured directly onto the fiberglass surface of a surfboard.
In "Monster of the Deep," the boundary between water and creature dissolves. What appears at first glance to be a massive, peaking wave is, in reality, a living titan of the abyss. The churning foam becomes gnashing teeth, and the deep turquoise shadows of the barrel reveal the scales of an ancient leviathan.
The composition centers on the ultimate metaphor for human struggle: a solitary surfer, locked in a high-stakes dance on the very spine of the beast. To ride the wave is to ride the monster itself—a delicate balance between peak performance and total annihilation.
