My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the sky - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
In this piece, I aimed to capture the golden autumn highlights formed on the land below a stormy sky. As the October sun rises from behind the cliffs on the coastal path to Moelfre, Anglesey, North Wales, the deep autumnal palette pours gradually across the Gorse.
I study the skies over the Cheshire hills, close to my home and also the coastal skies over Anglesey, North Wales,
The layers of the painting are developed by forming texture through layering and blending the paint, building depth and highlights.
