Bathed in the final light of day, this atmospheric woodland painting captures mistletoe suspended on the woodland trees in Saint-Groux (Charente, France), following a walk I had by the river there.
The loose, expressive brushwork evokes the fleeting moment when daylight dissolves into evening, and the light bark of the trees radiated back the sun during that brief golden hour moment. It is painted in an impressionist manner on canvasboard (canvas attached to board) and left for a year before being varnished.
