The start of this sculpture is in France, in the Melay area, where I organize sculpture courses. And at the brocante in Dammartin sur Meuse. A wonderful place to poke around if you are looking for old iron or old building materials, for example. The cast iron part of this sculpture comes from there.

I like to be inspired by the material itself. A way to get the flow of ideas going, and sometimes also to put you on a new track. This is also the case with this sculpture.

It is a kind of reflection of shapes, but not a copy. They belong together, but are also different. The copper addition guides your gaze, and also enhances the colors of the material. As far as I'm concerned, an important addition.

Due to the weight of the cast iron part, a sturdy base is required. The two shapes stand on a matching metal base, with a wooden part on top. Also suitable for outdoor use.

Materials used:

Grünstein, cast iron, copper, steel, wood

About
My sculptures are clear and abstract. They are created intuitively, by combining shapes and materials. While working I search for simplicity, tension and balance. The traces of the manufacturing process remain visible,... Read more
