Midpoint (2024)Mixed-media sculpture
by Philip Hearsey
£1,750
Original artwork description
Abstract Sculpture does not depend on explanation or description. It can bring varying emotions into daily life, being a reminder of something special, events and experiences.
There is value and importance of the sculpture, a long-living introduction into, and a quiet constant of, daily life in contrast to the cheap and fast images with which we are bombarded. Modern living can make us forget the natural world and our place within it.
Sculpture is a powerful way to forge impressions that can be interpreted according to the preferences and experiences of the onlooker, making a sculpture unique to that person.
One of the pleasures of small sculptures is that they can easily be moved around, accompanying other special belongings to refresh both the surroundings and the perception of the collector.
Midpoint is Cornish slate standing on a Herefordshire yew base with a bronze crescent encompassing scorched burr oak.
