Original artwork description
I had only just returned to my home in Menton, France, where Ihad planned to remain for about three months time. I spent a lovely afternoon just before France announced that the Country was going into Lockdown, climbing up through a Menton’s Old a Town, photographing a million charming nooks and crannies along the way. I began work on this piece based on one of my photos, and only just finished it before restrictions around the world tightened, and it became clear that if I was to be able to renter the USA, I needed to leave France at once. The next days were a whirlwind as I scrambled to book flights, and prepare for an abrupt departure from France. This painting was completed, in the last hours before I left.
