Horizontal oil and collage featuring the impression of a horse and rider on the move. The ‘from below’ point of view adds a cinematic sense of looking up to the big screen. The fragmentation of collage elements also jogs the senses into witnessing the visual tension of an array coming together and refusing unity all at once. Words and letterforms intimate the presence of language while remaining divorced of meaning specific to the scene while flowers and geometric patterns appear to regale the equestrian image in memoriam. The thickly painted oil surrounding the figures affirms the picture plane while simultaneously operating as deep receding space and providing a neutral tonality to rein in the riot of color.
