Melpomene, the Muse of Tragedy in ancient Greek mythology, embodies sorrow and reflection.

This painting was created in the immediate aftermath of the outbreak of war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Completed on March 1, it captures the emotional and psychological turmoil experienced by individuals and the artist herself.

The image of a vulnerable young girl holding a white rabbit conveys both fragility and resilience amidst chaos. The cracked texture on the figure symbolizes the emotional fractures caused by conflict, while the rich, dark environment punctuated with delicate floral elements suggests both despair and the persistence of life.

This work invites the viewer to contemplate the impact of tragedy on the human spirit and the hope for healing through endurance and compassion.
