Me I Keep Hidden is a work about the inner version of ourselves that we rarely show to the world. On the outside, a person may appear composed, stable, even strong, yet inside there is often a different state — a desire to curl up, become smaller, and retreat into a safe space. This is not weakness, but a natural need for protection and restoration.

The figure is compressed within a confined space, almost fitting into a square. The pose is closed, and the body’s plasticity is soft and fluid, as if the body itself is searching for a form in which it can hide. The lines of the curves — shoulder, back, knees — create a sense of vulnerability, yet at the same time harmony. The absence of a face makes the image universal, allowing the viewer to recognize themselves in it.

The color palette is built on deep, dark tones — deep black, burnt umber, warm brown, muted terracotta, dark sienna — with warm light accents — warm bronze, soft copper, golden highlights, skin tones. The contrast of light and shadow emphasizes the volume of the body and creates a sense of intimacy and inner space. The painterly approach is свободная, with visible brushstrokes and rich texture, enhancing both the emotional depth and the physical presence of the form.

Within the context of the Comfort Zone series, this work explores the moment when a person becomes aware of their inner vulnerability but does not yet bring it outward. It is a quiet inner space — a place where one can be real, but only in solitude.
