Original artwork description
Maty is the second guardian in my TINI RODU series, rooted in the deep traditions of the Ukrainian motanka doll. She leans forward with her shoulders softened by the invisible weight of care, embodying the gentleness that sustains generations as a steadfast mother and nurturer.
The Symbolism
The Motanka & Face Threads: The cross across her face serves as a sacred protective symbol to shield against evil and connect the spiritual and earthly realms. Here, the ochre thread represents warmth and life-giving strength, while the white thread signifies innocence and a child's first breath.
White Kerchief: Represents modesty, tenderness, purity, and care.
Beads: Strands of milky white beads act as symbols of purity, maternal protection, and continuity.
Embroidery: A soft floral ornament inspired by Ukrainian tradition, echoing tenderness and family connection.
Sacred Plants:
Chamomile (Romashka): Gentleness, healing of the heart, and motherly tenderness.
Mint (Myata): Calm, peace of mind, and soothing the tired soul.
Ears of Grain (Kolossya): Fertility, nourishment, and the blessing of home abundance.
