Marmari Beach, Paxos (2024) Original Oil Painting by Nop Briex

Marmari beach near Loggos on the unspoilt idyllic Greek island of Paxos is one of my favourite resting places. Where I lost my heart to the beautiful olive groves, cypress trees, white "pebble" beaches, azure-aqua-coloured seawater-filled bays, high cliffs, sea caves and sweet Greek villages since 1988. The delicious smell of olive wood and the salty Ionian Sea. This cute vista in the olive grove of taxi driver Thasos and tolerates bathers recreating here. Behind the row of rostrums on which to sit is the white stone beach.

An island where ordinary cosy families and the world-famous jet set celebrate their summer holidays. Mundane yet just simple and local. No mass culture here. This beautiful work portrays the island of Paxos at its best. Dreaming away and musing on the pleasantly warm summer sun and the wonderful Greek atmosphere.
