This art work was made during Russia's war against Ukraine and with the theme of this war. Constant air alarms, explosions, deaths of people and terrible injuries - this is the new reality in which Ukrainians currently live. This work is a reflection on violence and sacrifice.
The work conveys a sense of tense complexity and the disintegration of form. The central figure resembles at once a body, a flower and something mechanical—as if the organic had been broken down into fragments and reassembled through a coordinate system. The grid superimposed on top creates an effect of control, record-keeping, and inventory — as if something living were being forced into a bureaucratic table. The ballpoint pen produces a dense, almost obsessive texture: the lines build up in layers, like mental noise or an attempt to hold onto a slipping form. There is a sense of internal pressure, of expansion from the centre outwards, like a process of transformation or mutation. The work balances between anatomy and abstraction, between order and disintegration.
This work consists of individual sheets of A4 paper, which are glued together with adhesive tape. Along the gluing line, the picture can be bent and folded like an accordion, like a brochure. I am using this opportunity to mail this picture. When you receive this picture, it will be folded like a brochure A4. The picture must be expanded and placed in a graphic frame. This can be easily done by yourself or in any baguette studio.
