Man Alone (2019) Photograph by Hyun De Grande

105 x 55 x 5cm (framed) / 100 x 50cm (actual image size)

£821.42

Spotted a big dash of light in an interesting V-shape on the street, that found it's way between two tall buildings on the opposite side of the street, where a man was intriguinly standing at the end of the V-shape with his back towards me. This created an interesting vibe for me, especially with the shadowlines that acted as guidelines towards this point of interest. Unlike a lot of my other shots, this one was taken pretty instantaneously, without lots of other attemps.

Printed on an aluminium Chromaluxe panel of 50x100cm, in a semi-gloss finish, characterised by their vibrant colour reproduction and very deep blacks. These panels are UV, weather and scratch resistant. Framed inside a wooden matte black floating frame, and they are ready to hang.

In my photography work, I'm drawn to geometric shapes created by light or architecture, which I try to use to evoke feelings of sollitude and alienation. The use of the wide aspect ratio originates from my career as cinematographer, where it is more commonly used.

Taken during a walk in Toronto.
