Looking out on the Pacific, I was struck by the otherwordly quality of the surfers nearing the shore, in their loneliness they appeared like a group of alien invaders.

The cinematic quality and extreme weather of the Mojave, Sonoran and Chihuahuan desert has inspired the collection Desert Diary. It often feels familiar, like a place you know, but have only seen in a movie. I have travelled these deserts for many years, and no road trip or landscape ever feel the same because of the constantly changing light and shapes of the desert.
