Original artwork description:

Acrylic colour on handmade thai mulberry paper, deckled edge, 21 x 31 in., 55 x 80 cm.
Always people and their activities have been my main interest. Here the soup set up is a Thai classic. I've had the reference pictures for this one for many years, always loved the angle and dynamics. And I once… long ago… did a small 8x10inch painting of this. Someone out there has it… So now I want to do it on the large paper, bolder strokes, colours toned down.
Here I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. It’s handmade to this size to get the unique, uneven deckled edges which adds to the overall textural effect. The close up pictures are to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
Then there’s the work well in progress in the studio.

About framing.
When considering framing bear in mind to not cover up the deckled edges. This is one of the specialties of the painting, one of its charms. It is best displayed framed with a cut mat board around the painting so as not to cover the edges, thereby putting some space between the art and the glass and bringing depth to the framed art. It can also be framed simply with backing board and pressed with glass over the front without causing damage.
