Original artwork description:

Make your own kind of Music is a contemporary abstract painting series that deliberately plays with its title. It is about choosing your own path and staying true to your artistic voice – even when that path is quiet, reduced, or challenges expectations. Each artwork in this series is minimalist in nature, focusing primarily on a single colour, complemented only by black or white. This piece, number 1 in the series, explores subtle shades and tonal variations of fresh and caliming blue, the color of sky and water, calming and fresh. The raw, natural canvas in a soft cream tone remains visible and creates a beautiful contrast to the painted surface.

Created with mixed acrylic techniques on raw canvas, the paintings gain their strength through gesture, layering, and the interplay between fluid and creamy paint applications. Marks, traces, and subtle movements give each piece a strong visual presence, showing how restraint can carry emotional depth. These contemporary abstract works are intentionally simple, yet powerful and expressive.

Some might describe these paintings as minimal or understated – for me, that simplicity is exactly where their strength lies. Make your own kind of Music is about independence, clarity, and trusting your own rhythm rather than following external expectations. The series speaks to collectors who appreciate modern minimalist art, expressive abstraction, and contemporary paintings that quietly but confidently hold their space.

The artworks in the Make your own kind of Music series work beautifully both as individual pieces and when displayed together. Each painting holds its own quiet strength, while a combination of several works creates a subtle visual rhythm through colour, visual texture, and negative space. Hung as pairs or groups, the paintings enter into a calm dialogue with one another, offering a timeless and balanced presence that gently shapes and enhances a space.
