All the mothers are madonnas with children. I found this old picture of the silent film dancer and actress Rubye De Remer impersonating the madonna. I used one of my photographs of flowers and fused it with a photo of star space and fused it all digitally, then transferred the ink from the print made on plain paper to canvas, after which I coloured and fused it further with acrylics and watercolours. The painting evokes a feeling of serenity mixed with mystery. The central figure, who seems enveloped in a halo of sacredness and stillness, conveys a sense of protection and tenderness, thanks to the delicate gesture with which she embraces the infant. The muted purple, blue and white colors with small dots of warm , almost evanescent colors create a dreamlike atmosphere, as if it were a vision that emerged from a dream or distant memory.
The intricate texture in the background, with crystal or galaxy-like patterns, adds complexity and depth, leaving an impression of something cosmic or transcendental. This contrast between the intimacy of the embrace and the vastness of the background evokes a feeling of the small and the infinite, the personal and the universal, as if the painting invites reflection on the connection between the sacred and the human, the fragile and the eternal.
