Original artwork description
This work is based on my observation from life: a view from the window of a second-hand shop, with an oval image of the Madonna. It was made of wax — a fragile, but very beautiful object. This is what I wanted to capture in my painting.
The colours I used could be described as “severe”: earthy greens and muted tones.
The painting was created over an ochre imprimatura and is varnished. It is painted in a very lively and expressive manner. The edges of the canvas are painted in the colour of the imprimatura.
