- John Cottee
- All Artworks
- Lotus leaves
Original artwork description
This one took off in an unexpected direction. The red background was not my original intention, but I did red underpainting to give some life to what I intended to paint grey. I really liked the contrast with the green leaves, so I enhanced it instead. Using flatter colours than usual, I liked the almost abstract effect of the shapes of leaves, shadows & foliage.
Long listed in Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023, out of over 11,000 entries
Materials used:
Acrylic on 300gsm watercolour paper
Details:
- Acrylic painting on Paper
