Loch Side captures a spectacular summer day at Fort Augustus, looking northward up the legendary Loch Ness. The sun was blazing, the ice cream shop bustling, and the view—simply unforgettable. Above the rolling Scottish hills, clouds began to form, casting soft shadows over whitewashed cottages nestled along the shoreline.
This Scottish landscape print reflects the bold blues and crisp whites of the scene—echoing the colours of the Scottish flag, and evoking the serenity and vastness of the loch itself. The scale and beauty of the Highlands are awe-inspiring, and I’ve tried to translate that emotion into this piece.
This is a reduction linocut print, a completely handmade and unrepeatable process. Using only one lino block, I carved and printed 21 individual layers, each one adding depth, tone and atmosphere. With every layer, more of the lino is cut away—so once the print is finished, the block is destroyed and cannot be reused.
Printed with oil-based Caligo inks on luxurious Italian Fabriano Rosapina paper, this artwork has a rich, velvety finish and lasting archival quality.
Perfect for lovers of original printmaking, Scottish landscapes, and contemporary handmade art.
