In this large piece looking out to sea from the coastal path, the sea-mists roll slowly across the water, as dawn breaks.
The muted shades soften the cloudscape beautifully.
Texture in the foreground as the water ripples on the sand, is highlighted as the sun floods through.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and the many changes the light can make to the atmosphere of a painting - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
I study the skies and land over the Cheshire plain, close to my home and also the coastal skies over Anglesey, North Wales,
The soft and hazy feel is developed by using the oils almost like watercolour - forming light, translucent glazes.
