This work is from the series “Mother’s Love.”
A mother’s love is boundless, like the ocean. The painting is very quiet and meditative: a small child stands in the wide space of the beach, with the ocean stretching out ahead. There is a feeling of freedom and trust in the world, and at the same time the gentle, watchful gaze of a mother upon this moment.
God loves us immeasurably more than we love our children. Even now, it is difficult for me to fully comprehend this. Isa 49:15: "Can a woman forget her baby who nurses at her breast? Can she withhold compassion from the child she has borne? Even if mothers were to forget, I could never forget you!"
Therefore, this painting is both the gaze of a mother upon her child and the gaze of God upon us as His children.
