Listen to Camilla Akraka 3/14 (2026) Etchings & engravings by Bart Demeestere

21 x 30cm (unframed) / 12 x 12cm (actual image size)

£149.71

Listen is a work of art by the artist Camilla Akraka, unveiled in 2019 at Rådhustorget in Umeå. It was Sweden's first #MeToo monument. The sculpture depicts a red-lacquered feline with an open mouth and Nordic gold in its jaws, positioned three metres above the ground on a stainless-steel frame reminiscent of a cage. The animal is situated outside the cage.
In the print, the sculpture meets the old town hall behind it. The first plate documents the building in black. The second plate is manually painted with carmine red and black each time. Every copy is unique.
This is a unique state print: every impression is individually hand-painted. No two are identical. I have only made 14 of them; this is number 3.

Materials used:

alukraft plate, Akua intaglio ink, Watercolour paper 200gsm
