"Light is on all night" — Original Watercolor Painting | Part of the “Invisible Children” Series

This emotionally charged watercolor painting is part of the “Invisible Children” series — a body of work that explores the silent tragedy of unseen childhood. It reveals a society that turns a blind eye to the struggles of "other people’s" children. Children who are left to grow up on their own, navigating pain, isolation, and survival in emotionally hostile environments.

In “Light is on all night,” a group of children stands together under a looming, broken Ferris wheel — a symbol of lost innocence. Their playground is an abandoned fairground, overgrown and silent, echoing the real-life tragedy of Pripyat’s wheel, which was never switched on due to the Chernobyl disaster. That wheel, once a promise of joy, became an emblem of catastrophe — just like the forgotten joy of childhood for these kids.

Each child tells their own story:

— The girl staring into the distance already knows too much. She senses what’s coming.
— The youngest boy, still full of play, doesn’t yet grasp the weight of their reality.
— The boy in the rabbit mask isn’t afraid. The mask is his armor — a symbol of the way children often retreat into themselves, building inner worlds for protection.
— And the white-haired boy — wise beyond his years — watches over them all. He has seen too much, yet his core remains kind, playful, and resilient.

The city in the background is grey, overgrown, lifeless — a post-apocalyptic world. But on the horizon, among dark buildings, there is a single, distant window aglow. A tiny light. A sign that hope still exists. That someone is out there. That they are not alone.

This is an original piece — not a print, not digital. Just brush, pigment, time, and heart.
An unforgettable gift for lovers of introspective art, visual storytelling, or conceptual contemporary painting.
