Original artwork description
Sir Lewis Hamilton produced one of his all-time greatest drives over the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend. He was awarded a 25 place penalty after securing pole position in the Friday evening qualifying shootout. During the Saturday ‘Sprint Qualifying Race’, he drove aggressively to get up to an amazing fifth position after only 24 laps. This meant he would start 10th in the race on the Sunday.
The grand prix produced another classic race, in a season full of exciting moments. Hamilton managed to work his way up to second within the first half of the race. He, however, still had to try and catch title rival Verstappen who have been driving faultlessly. They went wheel-to-wheel three times before Hamilton finally made his pass around the outside into turn three. It secured Hamilton a hugely popular win in front of 180,000 Brazilian fans and kept him in with a chance of the 2021 F1 World Championship.
This painting depicts Hamilton racing into the Mercedes pits, on his way to his memorable victory.
