Let's Talk (1999) Lithograph by Dean Anthony Brink
63.5 x 45.72cm (unframed) / 58.42 x 40.64cm (actual image size)
£454
Artwork description
This is one of three very limited edition lithographs from 1999, after my mother and local artist, Antje Kaiser, had passed away. I used her name, signing them D. Kaiser.
There is foxing on the edges in some of the prints. This one is 6/12. I will try to make prints of each of the prints available too.
A note on the influence of Rauschenberg: I had been influenced by him and made these using his transfer techniques on lithograph stones and aluminum sheets (though I can't remember which derives from which).
The themes reflect my turbulent life then, losing my mother, estranged from my father, recently divorced, and torn between two men in my life. I have always been a promoteer of peace, so these themes appear too.
Oddly, this one seems to speak to brutality in the world today, though printed on giant lithograph press in 1999.
