The Cévennes is a hilly,forested and rural region in the department of the Lozère,which forms the southern most region of the Massif Centrale,in France.
This painting is based upon a one of many photos I took whilst exploring the region by bicycle. It is a very rural region accessable by small roads and many long distant pathes,where rushing torrents,deep gorges, steep forest covered hills and ancient villages are the predominant feature of the region. One could say that the region typifies rural life in France where modern day life has made little impact.
