'Le Chat Noir' was the first cabaret nightclub in the world, finally closing its Parisian doors in the 1880's. The name however, lives on, almost exclusively because of the famous poster by Theophile Steinlen, created some years later to advertise a travelling cabaret troupe. The artwork can be found splashed across Montmartre. It is this quintessentially Parisian icon that I have paid homage to in the background. Painted on a fine textured, professionally stretched linen canvas, using Old Holland and Michael Harding artist's quality oils and mediums and finished with a light satin varnish.
