Ochre Tidal Reflections is an original contemporary abstract seascape painting created with acrylic on canvas.

While working on this piece, I was inspired by the quiet movement of water and the layered atmosphere of coastal landscapes. Instead of depicting a literal shoreline, I translated the feeling of open space, shifting light and distant landforms into textured color fields and expressive gestures.

Soft blue and cool grey tones move across the canvas, blending with pale ivory and misty neutral layers. Deeper passages of charcoal and earthy brown create grounding elements, while warm accents of ochre appear throughout the composition, adding natural warmth and contrast against the cooler tones.

The painting was developed through multiple layers of acrylic using palette knife techniques and textured brushwork. Thick expressive strokes interact with smoother areas of paint, allowing subtle transitions of color to appear through the layers. Up close, the surface reveals tactile textures and dynamic brush movement that reflect the physical energy of the painting process.

From a distance the composition feels expansive and atmospheric, evoking the experience of open water and distant land under a changing sky.
