Drift of Light is an original contemporary abstract seascape painting created with acrylic on canvas, measuring 120 × 85 cm and delivered rolled in a secure tube.

In this piece I explored the quiet movement of light across water and land. Layers of soft blue, cool grey, ivory, and warm beige move through the composition, creating an expansive atmosphere that feels open and luminous. Subtle ochre accents appear within the darker passages, bringing warmth and contrast to the cooler tones.

I built the painting gradually using palette knife and layered acrylic techniques. Textured passages, scraped details, and fluid transitions allow the surface to shift between depth and airiness. The upper section carries light and openness, while the lower section grounds the composition with deeper charcoal and earthy tones.

The 120 × 85 cm format gives this work a strong presence without overwhelming a space. It works beautifully as statement wall art in modern interiors, minimalist living rooms, contemporary homes, or architectural environments where texture and atmosphere become the focal point.

While creating Drift of Light, I focused on how color and texture can suggest distance and reflection without defining a literal scene. The result is a contemporary abstract painting that feels calm, expansive, and immersive.
