Original artwork description
September in Holland. The days are filling with the orange, pink, and purple hues of autumn. No leaves have fallen yet, but the light is changing, and the days are getting shorter. This is an oil painting of a tree-lined lane near my studio, in a typical Dutch landscape. I've tried to capture that strange late afternoon light. And the feeling of being so small as you look up at the tall trees. I've tried to work like the Impressionists, with a loose brushstroke and expressive colors.
To protect my paintings from UV light and dust, I seal them with two thin coats of varnish.
