Original artwork description
Painted in 2021 during a journey through the breathtaking region of Racha, this work captures the fleeting brilliance of Georgian autumn at its peak. Traveling with my wife and close friends, I found myself surrounded by an overwhelming richness of color—one of those rare moments when nature feels almost excessive in its beauty.
Racha in October is unlike anywhere else in Georgia. The diversity of its flora creates an extraordinary spectrum of color: deep crimsons, glowing yellows, warm ochres, and unexpected flashes of green. In this painting, I focused on a hillside dense with trees, each one shifting in tone, forming a living mosaic. The calm water below reflects this vibrant mass, softening and echoing the intensity of the landscape above.
What drew me most was not just the color, but the sense of fullness—nature at its most mature, just before letting go. The thick, expressive brushwork mirrors that abundance, almost sculpting the foliage rather than simply depicting it.
This painting is both a memory and a tribute—to a place, a season, and a shared experience of beauty that feels timeless.
