A hot summer, a different time, and I wandered in Krakow. Beyond the centre of the city, the streets became more lived in, with an energy, a vibrancy, patches of intense light, damp shadow, peeling paint, echoes of history, of occupation and of Communism, the vibrations of those that were here before. I spotted a hostel, quirky, with unusual stucco and paint work. I wanted to capture it. The work is rich in detail and colour, a perfect souvenir of Poland, a great addition to any traveller’s collection of art.

Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
