Recently, I traveled back to my native city, Kharkiv. This city, once bustling with life and energy, was a vibrant metropolis before the war cast its shadow over Ukraine. Kharkiv's main railway station was a hive of activity, filled with the sounds of hurried footsteps, cheerful greetings, and the constant hum of trains.

However, this spring, as I stood before the grand edifice of the station at around 3 pm, I was struck by an overwhelming sense of emptiness. The once-busy place now seemed eerily quiet, with only a few scattered individuals and city pigeons pecking at the ground in search of food. The contrast was stark and deeply moving.

Unable to simply walk away, I took a photo of this poignant scene. The image stayed with me, compelling me to translate that moment of quiet solitude and the station's enduring grandeur into a watercolor painting. This artwork is not just a depiction of a building; it is a narrative of resilience, a testament to the enduring spirit of Kharkiv and its people.
