Kamifūsen (2021)Screenprint

Several times I’ve seen paper sky lanterns released and it is a beautiful sight. These lanterns are used in many different cultures worldwide – “kamifūsen” in Japan, “kongming” in China, “fanush” in India and “balão” in Brazil. Although there are many photographs of these sky lanterns, I wanted to try and illuminate (haha) them myself, and to capture the glowing and the movement as they rise above the tree silhouettes.

This artwork is hand printed from silkscreens using photo stencils on archival printmaking paper, using water-based inks. 8 colors. Maximum image size: 10" x 14" Overall paper size: 11" x 15"

This edition is limited to 35 copies, and each print is numbered, titled and signed by the artist. Each print is considered an original, and can vary slightly from the others. 2021

My print(s) are carefully packaged between multiple sheets of cardboard, matboard and padding, insured to the value of the artwork, and shipped via USPS.

Francis Stanton retains all copyright to the artwork. The copyright does not transfer with the sale of this print.
