Original artwork description
Reading Kafka, I had the feeling that the author had been wandering around in my dreams. Reading about Kafka, especially from a psychoanalytical viewpoint, was also illuminating. Descriptions of his sense of space, the importance of boundaries, walls, doors, the lack of coherence of space, phrased into actual words notions and uncanny feelings that prevail in my dreams; especially those of being chased in an endless labyrinth of odd spaces. This castle-structure could also be seen as the human brain while dreaming, with the black diamond referring to Kafka’s father, in my case an oppressing rationality, presented as the only solid value, which dictates taboos and constantly judges my thoughts, emotions and my often fluid way of thinking itself.
