Julieta was a mare who lived in the countryside, near my mother’s house. She was always alone in a large green meadow. No one rode her or used her for anything; she was simply there. Sometimes she shared the space with other horses, running together in the afternoons. She seemed free. This is Julieta’s mask of struggle—a human who longs for freedom but is held back by her own darkness, by that which binds, controls, and contains her. And yet, she always wants to be free; she is always searching for freedom.
