- Juggler in a Doorway
Original artwork description
London has many ages of architecture sitting together street by street, Victorian public buildings sit alongside 60’s tower-blocks, we often live and work in soulless environments, with harsh materials and disowned spaces, unlooked after hallways, the only warmth is the conversation and good company we share. However there are sometimes bottlenecks potentially hampering our progress, as we hurry on our way through the metropolis.
The figures in this painting are blocking a doorway, the woman on the right in her stillness is framing the passageway through the architecture, she is rocking side to side, a juggler behind her is adding to the confusion for a man entering the space who nearly trips over. The lit area beyond the threshold with a figure walking across the space beyond together with negative spaces and shadows of the building are creating a sense of uncertainty.
