Original acrylic painting of Juan Pablo Montoya winning the 1999 Grand Prix of Long Beach.
This painting depicts the exciting Juan Pablo Montoya winning his first Indycar race in 1999. He chose an historic place to achieve this - on the palm tree lined streets of Long Beach California.
His incredible championship winning rookie season shot the Colombian to racing stardom in the US, and resulted in a Williams Formula 1 seat a few years later. This painting shows the fantastic looking Chip Ganassi car the it’s iconic Target livery.
When composing this piece I wanted Montoya’s red car to contrast with the cool cast shadows and cracks on Long Beach’s concrete track.
This one is for all the Juan Pablo Montoya fans like myself.
