This work pays tribute to one of the masterpieces of contemporary architecture: the Sydney Opera House, designed by Jørn Utzon. The artist captures its expressive power in a nighttime setting, where artificial light sculpts the iconic sails, highlighting their modular structure and curved form.
My technique is a refined fusion of photographic memory and ancient alchemy: images are imprinted onto wooden panels and reworked through a textural layering of earth pigments and oxides. I use egg white as a natural binder, fixing the colors with sunlight in a slow, organic process. The result is a unique work that transforms architectural rigor into a millenary artifact with a profound tactile consistency.
Dominated by deep blues, blacks, and purples, the scene is enveloped in rich tones, while the sails, in bright contrast, emerge as luminous volumes, enhancing the building’s three-dimensional quality.
