Auvergne landscape, France.

From the window of my studio in Saint-Vincent, overlooking the Gorges de la Loire, a sunrise illuminates the snow-covered landscape. During the night, snow had blanketed the slopes of the Monts du Velay, offering a silent, white surprise. The low-angled morning light gently caresses the volcanic crests and transforms the clouds into a celestial architecture of soft pinks, pearlescent tones, and golden hues. Between the still-sleeping earth wrapped in its white mantle and the sky in full metamorphosis, this fleeting moment captures the slow rising of the day and the impalpable tactility of the drifting cloud masses.
This study lies at the heart of my research: giving body to the ephemeral, fixing the instant when the immaterial becomes pictorial presence, and celebrating the unique, cyclical light of the skies over the Haute-Loire.

The white finish on the sides of the canvas allows it to be hung without a frame, should you wish.

Materials used:

This painting is painted with professional grade oil colors on a primed canvas. I prepare myself my canvases to create a texture specific to my painting needs and to insure them maximum longevity.
