An open doorway on the right allows a shaft of light to rake across this scene; a pair of high, shiny boots and a purple dress lie discarded beside a pair of men's shoes. And in the open doorway, another pair of red shoes seems to stand inquisitively. Or aggressively. Or provocatively. Or invitingly. Maybe out of place, out of time, sometimes even the stars don't look familiar.
