IRIS DREAMSCAPES

“We already live in a fairytale world; we simply need to look closer to see it.”

In “Iris Dreamscapes,” a raindrop becomes a solitary traveler, gliding across the vivid terrain of an otherworldly landscape hidden inside the iris flower.

This work is part of the “Wonderland Under Our Feet” series — evidence that extraordinary worlds and quiet poetry exist right beneath our feet, waiting to be rediscovered. It is an invitation to journey through the mystical spaces that lie just beneath the surface of our perceived reality.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inna Etuvgi is a Swedish-Chukchi artist whose work defines the concept of Cybernetic Animism—a bridge between indigenous Arctic intuition and technical precision. Raised in a remote village in Chukotka and trained in technical cybernetics, Etuvgi explores the shared "soul" of natural ecosystems and digital algorithms.

Living with Aphantasia—the inability to visualize mental images—Etuvgi uses her camera and Generative AI as a "visual prosthesis" to externalize deep emotional landscapes. Her macro photography magnifies nature’s smallest details, urging a shift from a human-centered worldview to one of interconnectedness.

Internationally recognized as an Arte Laguna Prize finalist (Venice) and a recipient of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee grant, Etuvgi’s work is held in private collections worldwide. As art critic Tabish Khan notes: “Her work transports us to other worlds—both real and imaginary, but always in harmony with nature.”

Materials used:

fine art paper, archival pigment inks, Ph-neutral passepartout
