For me, this flower is much more than a botanical subject.

Its golden yellow and blue petals naturally reflect the colours that have become a symbol of my homeland, Ukraine. That is why I chose to paint this particular iris. In it, I see my country—beautiful, strong, delicate, yet deeply resilient.

My intention was not only to capture every vein, every graceful curve of the petals, and the remarkable beauty of the flower itself, but also to preserve the feeling it evokes. The light carried by colour. The sense of peace that can exist despite difficult circumstances. The hope that continues to endure.

Botanical art is my way of expressing the value of life through nature. Every plant has its own story, and sometimes it also becomes a keeper of our personal stories. This iris is one of those flowers.

It is a reminder of the beauty worth protecting and of the quiet strength that remains unbroken.
