This work from the Intervals series features a hoopoe, a distinctive Mediterranean bird, placed within a structured geometric environment. Repeated patterns create a visual framework where the figure emerges as a point of pause and contrast.

The hoopoe is rendered using simplified, architectural lines that echo the geometry of the background while remaining distinct from it. Its characteristic crest and alert posture introduce a quiet tension, holding stillness within a shifting spatial field.

Rather than telling a narrative, the piece focuses on balance, spacing and the dialogue between repetition and presence. The hoopoe becomes a measured interruption, a point of clarity within an otherwise continuous visual rhythm.

The Intervals series builds on ideas first explored in my earlier Origami works, extending them toward a more restrained and contemplative visual language, where form, colour and placement define the experience.

This is a contemporary geometric bird painting inspired by Mediterranean wildlife, combining graphic structure with organic subject matter.
